Wren's mother was a dancer and a city viera who died when she was young. She was born in Ul'dah, and raised by the women of a local dance troupe, friends of her mother's.
As a child, she was always drawn to soulkin and the art of summoning after having an encounter with the Arcanist's Guild during one of the troupe's tours in Limsa Lominsa. This led her to take interest in Thaumaturgy after her mother's death, learning the basics before seeking knowledge on her own.
When she was old enough to venture into the world, she became an adventurer for hire to continue her studies, gaining practical application in the process before the Seventh Umbral Calamity, and afterwards awakening to the Echo and catching the attention of the Scions.
